Audrey Tautou
Audrey Tautou is the youngest of four kids born August 9, 1976 in Beaumont Puy de Domme. Her parents a dental surgeon along with a teacher, recognized and supported her interest in acting and theatre as early as she was a child. This was more important than a desire to become a primatologist due to her love of monkeys. The rise of her as a young actress was rapid and highlighted by early success. In 1998, following the completion of her studies, she was invited to join Jeunes Premiers which is an French TV talent-scouting programme sponsored by Canal+. She also took home the Most Popular Young Actress prize at the Beziers Festival of Young Actors. The experience led her to start her acting career professionally. Though she was a student at the Institut Catholique de Paris and had a religious affiliation in her early years, Tautou has since distanced herself from this upbringing, stating that she's not Catholic. In addition to her acting career, she began a modeling career. The model is also the spokesperson for L'Oreal Mont Blanc & Chanel and is often referred to as The Chanel Muse. Also, she has an intense photographic passion and has recently created an exhibit of her work for the Arles Festival under the title Superficial. Her work is mostly focused on celebrity and fame, and is focused towards the reporters who sat on her during her popularity with Amelie and a series of self-portraits. Audrey Tautou became a star and was recognized internationally for her first role in Amelie Poulain from Le Fabuleux Destination d'Amelie. Amelie has been a international box office success and was recognized by numerous ceremony awards around the world. Amelie is the most successful french-language film to hit the US. After this film's success, Tautou appeared in numerous movies ranging from British dramatics such as Stephen Knight's Dirty Pretty Things to Jean-Pierre Jeunet's Long Sunday de fiancailles. She then moved to Hollywood by directing Ron Howard of the Dan Brown bestseller The Da Vinci Code alongside Tom Hanks.
